Morning Headlines

Here is a look at the top headlines on Yahoo! Sports right now:

Vick indicted on Va. dogfighting charges

Sorry, do I need to hit refresh on my browser? How old is this headline?

Okay, so it's a "new" story in that Vick is now being charged in Virginia on basically the same charges he was charged with in Federal court. Or at least that's what I gathered from reading the first 2 paragraphs and then stopping because the next time I want to hear about Michael Vick, I want to know how long he is going to prison (90 days of house arrest more likely.)

Then I don't want to hear about Vick until there is either A.) A football game against the guards or B.) Vick yells at fellow inmate for dropping the soap. Butterfingers.

Padres Rally, Regain Wild Card lead
Teams in the NL fight to prove who is the best of the worst.

These are the days I wish the Mariners were in the National League. When Edgar retired, so did the DH position for the M's. (Sorry Bucky Jacobsen.)

The Yankees will clinch the Wild Card tonight and all 4 AL playoff teams will be set, while ZERO of the NL playoff teams have been determined yet. All the teams are just equally good? LOL.

There are literally 10,000 things I would rather watch than a San Diego-New York first round series. However, none of those things are on the FOX fall schedule, so I'll settle.

Suns Shawn Marion says he wants to be traded

So Shawn Marion wants to be traded and then all of a sudden 31 GM's have "bad cell phone service."

It's not that I don't like Marion, he was a great pickup for my fantasy team 7 years ago.

He's a double-double every year with great defense and the ability to knock down the big shot, but what an ugly shot it is. I've never seen what "back spasms" look like, but I imagine it's something like Shawn Marions jump shot.

He's whining because the Suns aren't offering him an extension (for a contract that still has 2 years and millions of dollars left on it) so his best solution is to go elsewhere. There are GM's out there that will give him the money he wants (Hi Isiah Thomas) but no team out there has the point guard he needs (No, not you Barbosa.)

Danny Ainge is quickly scrambling to see if he can trade his first round picks from 2009-2014 to get Marion.

Blackhawks Owner William Wirtz, 77, dies
Apparently had a heart attack after finding out the Blackhawks played in the NHL.

I put these links here so you can go read it yourself, I won't bother reading it.

Bonds 756th going to HOF with asterisk
Sorry Bonds haters, this is a meaningless asterisk. It does not go into the record books. Instead, the guy who created that oh so cool ECKO clothing line will brand the ball he bought online with an asterisk and send it to Cooperstown after an online vote.

The other options were sending it to C-Town unblemished or sending it into space. Both retarded.

If you want to send it to the Hall of Fame unblemished, then just do it. There was no way that would win in a vote against any number of options.

And spending 750k to send a ball into space.... are you serious? Do you know how much other good things you could have done with that money? I got student loans son, hook it up. It scares me that the guy who designs ECKO actually has that much money to spend.

Devil Rays delay Yankees celebration
...so instead the rest of the world celebrates.

God I hate the Yankees, I wish they would fall with a bigger collapse than they had in the 04 ALCS. I hope the Devil Rays and Blue Jays finish 1-2 in the East for the next 5 years. Then baseball would be as interesting to watch as football.

By the way, the first line of this article is "Nothing comes easy for the New York Yankees..." Who writes this crap?

Reports: Bears to bench Grossman
I predicted last week that Grossman would get benched for Brian Griese in week 3. I was so close.

Since when is it a rule in Chicago that Rex Grossman has to be the starter? His first 3 years in the league he played in 8 games and threw 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, yet everyone was waiting for Rex to get healthy and become the starter.

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet on your first round picks. They won 8 straight games with Kyle Orton as the starter in 2005. This team has always been about the 11 guys on defense, not the 1 guy who is taking the snaps.

But the defense isn't very good this year, they've had a ton of injuries, so they need a better QB. Could be Griese, could be Orton, can't be Grossman.

Those are the headlines (there's also one about the Cubs loss yesterday. I'll pass on that one thank you very much.)
